Today, Dec. 26, President George Bush signed into law H.R. 2764, the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2008.

Among a stack of other provisions, the new law will amend old to add six quarters in 2009 and change the location of 'In God We Trust" on the Presidential Dollars from their edge to the obverse or reverse.

Second-guessing the United States Mint is exceptionally easy to do. They're the "big guys" with an array of products and programs that make them a bullseye for attention.

They're also a government entity and it's not exactly easy or prudent for them to respond to criticism, making arm-chair judgments against them simple.

Rare American Coins Database Updated to Include Nov 2007 Activity

The rare American coin market remained robust heading toward the end of 2007. Two of the top three most valuable coins sold in November were Buffalo Nickels: (1) 1916 Dbl Die graded MS-64 by PCGS brought $316,250 and (3) 1918-D 8 over 7 graded MS-64 by PCGS sold for $161,000. Coming in 2nd place, sandwiched between the Buffs was (2) a 1796 Quarter Eagle, no stars, judged by PCGS to be an AU-58 example, selling for $212,750. December is usually a slow month, so don't look for much action in next month's rare coin sales update.
